Some VCU Spirit

Saw this amazing collection of VCU baked goods at Martin's.
Got to love how everywhere in RVA is showing it's support for our team.
So glad I can say I actually graduated from there unlike some people who are just jumping on the support VCU bandwagon.

Where did the Nice Weather go?

In good old RVA the weather is more bi-polar than my Aunt (not pronounced ant) Shirley.
One day it will be almost summer then the next it's freaking cold with either high winds or some kind of precipitation.
All I really want is for it to be nice out. Nice enough for a skirt or dress.
Is that so much to ask???
Today the weather won't get above mid 40's and it's supposed to rain. Ick.

I guess my only silver lining to this is I'm going to be at Elephant Insurance from 8AM to 4:30PM and then at Banana Republic from 5PM to 9PM so I won't get to enjoy any of the weather today.
Still I'd like it to be nice out regardless of where I'll be.
Just not too nice since I do have to work ALL day.

These gorgeous photos are available from this etsy shop.
They make me crave spring and summer even more.

Manly Alcohol Label

There's nothing more manly than a bottle of alcohol with a mustache on it.
I love this label and I wish this was something I could get my hands on to drink.
I do love a good mustache.

One Week Down at Elephant

I survived my first week at Elephant Insurance. It was a lot of fun, and my coworkers are crazy awesome. This is the type of job that I don't mind having to wake up early and be at the office by 8AM. Dang saying "be at the office" makes me feel like SUCH an adult. Which I guess isn't a bad thing since I'll be turning 24 this year. It's about time I start to grow up and be a bit more responsible. I did get hit a few times in the face by nerf darts, but I'm a grownup and know how to retaliate with class. The things I've been learning so far aren't too difficult to understand, and I've been able to pick things up fairly easily. I'm excited to see what next week has in store for me, and to really start being able to do all the tasks on my own. Now it's nap time.

This Might be the Best Vacation Idea EVER

I have always wanted to go on an African safari, and this travel site, Africa & Beyond makes it look more possible than ever. I went to Africa in 2008, but it was just for a day and we only went to Morocco. Somewhat of a let down if you ask me. So sometime in the near future or for my honeymoon when I get married I want to do this. The photos of the luxurious tents look AMAZING!

Bible Quote

To everything there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven
a time to be born and a time to die
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted
a time to kill, and a tme to heal
a time to break down, and a time to build up
a time to weep, and a time to laugh
a time to mourn, and a time to dance
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing
a time to get, and a time to lose
a time to keep, and a time to cast away
a time to rend, and a time to sew
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak
a time to love, and a time to hate
a time of war, and a time of peace.

First Day at Work

Today I had my first day at Elephant Insurance. It went great. Although, the first half was orientation and going over the basic stuff like employee handbook and such. I learned how to do one task today. Processing cancellations on policies. It wasn't too difficult which is probably why they had me doing that first. I got hit a few times with stray nerf darts, but nothing critical. We pretty much laugh, listen to music, and do our work. Everyone was really nice, and I can't wait to go back to work tomorrow.

Cat on a Bungee Leash

Poor Stormy. Watch him in the harness and attempting to walk him outside had Krista, Adam, and I in stitches. At one point this had me laughing so hard I cried and Krista also couldn't move. We were paralyzed with laughter. It was a small success though because we got him to walk up and down a few doors away from the apartment. Best $13 spent of the day.

Frosty Frog Cafe & Daiquiri Bar Review

Today my brother and I went out for some food and libations for dinner. Our first stop was a completely empty pizza place called No Name Pizza & Pub. We were a little weary of the fact that the place almost no one in it and it was already 6PM on a Friday. We ordered the Gussepi's Special which was like a supreme pizza. The toppings were the usual pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, onion, mushroom, and black olive. The pizza was fairly tasty. Nothing SUPER special though, but at least the center of it wasn't soggy and the crust had the right amount of crunch and the cheese did that whole stringy thing that I love about pizza so I had nothing to complain about. Also the toppings weren't skimped on so it was rather covered in goodness. All in all a decent place so I'm not really sure why it was so empty. We sat outside on their patio and they had a giant projector screen showing the NCAA games so we got to catch up a little on that.

After No Name we headed over to the Frosty Frog at Coligny Plaza. This place is the cat's meow in my opinion. Such a quaint little idea to have a place that specializes in daiquiris. You could see several of those machines they make slurpees in running with different flavors of daiquiri. They had Hurrican, Banana Banshee, Margarita, Strawberry, Sex on the Peach, Pina Colada, White Russian, and a couple other flavors. The strawberry was the only one you could get virgin but there was the option to add alcohol and pick your proof as well. Personally, I was fascinated by this. I ordered a sex on the peach and a white russian. They were both delicious but the white russian was a revelation in my book. I would never have thought sonneone could turn a drink like that into a blended frozen beverage. It was simply amazing.

We ordered a basket of their poppers to go along with the drinks, but this is where the place was a little lacking. For $7 we got only six poppers. To me that seems a little stingy since those things are pretty much only cheese, jalapano, and breading that's fried. I feel like there should have been a few more in the basket. Those poppers were tasty despite being over priced. I don't know how the rest of their menu compaires but I definitely say if you're in HHI to check out the Frosty Frog it had a chill atmosphere and friendly wait staff who were on the ball with taking our order and getting us our drinks and right there when I wanted a second daiquiri. I give this place a 4 out of 5!

My New Freaking Sunburn

Got this beauty of a burn while waiting for the ferry earlier today and probably walking around in the sun all day in Savannah didn't help either. My left arm also got a little of a burn to it, but nothing as gnarly looking as my chest.

Thank goodness I was wearing makeup with a little bit of SPF on my face because then I could have ended up with a darling sunburn there as well and matched my poor brother. He also has racoon eyes from his sunglasses. His hair was blocking the top third of his forehead so that also didn't get any sun. His sunburns are far more embarassing than mine. He's almost afraid to go out in public.

RVA Hashing

Friday Krista, Chyrelle, Mannish and I were talking about hashing while out and about at the bars. It's a club where you drink and run. Sounds fun right? Well, Krista had no idea how to find this elusive club so she could join in on this super awesome sounding fun... that is until I Googled "hashing Richmond" and found their website.
We plan on going to the next event and I encourage others to join in the fun with us!

Ladies Night

Friday was officially LADIES NIGHT!!! Chyrelle, Krista, Mannish, and I went out for a sushi dinner and ended up bar hopping along the way.

Our faces are... priceless?

I made Krista pose like the pin up on the menu at Starlite... because I'm cool like that.

Mannish and Krista posing for the camera.

We finally made it to Sticky Rice for some tasty sushi.
Krista and Chyrelle had a few sake bombs.

Getting pumped for our sushi!

Before...

After.

Chyrelle and I are satisfied.

Krista and Mannish as well :)

Heading back to the car to go over to Mannish's apartment.

I tried to get all four of us in the picture... and failed.

Krista took an Admiral shot in a Jesus lego mug. I'm in love.

Last photo of the night. I'm looking all kinds of hippie-tastic and of course Chyrelle is looking GORGEOUS as always.

Another Reason to Learn to Knit

Some people might think knowing how to knit is so passe but I think it would be one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. There are so many amazing things you can make with just some knitting needles and yarn. The possibilities are practically endless. In the past few years a new trend has sprung up called "yarn bombing" and it makes my insides scream out to learn how to knit. This just looks amazing. The pictures below were found using a simple Google search for yarn bombing.

I've also seen it once or twice around RVA. It just looks super awesome!!!
