Some After Christmas Merriment

"THE HOUSE" This is the end all and be all of Christmas lights for me.

We both love penguins... they're so cute.

You must be this tall to ride.

The creepiest angel ever!

There were some kids that actually knew who E.T. was. Both of us appreciated their parents for helping their kids enjoy classical cinema gold from our childhood.

Of course we had to take a photo of the two of us infront of the house.

It's cool we're professionals.

After picking up a cheesesteak from Mojo's we had to head down to the James Center.

Paul found Rudolph and decided to punch the reindeer to teach him to make it more of a challenge.

I look like such a loser in this photo, but a skinny loser!

We hid inside the giant tree, and ended up scaring some stupid teenage girls that were all dressed a like.

This one decided to get a little frisky with me. I won't lie though I liked it.

We're in love so it's cool.

To infinity and beyond!!!!

Why not climb on a statue. It seemed appropriate at the time.

I'm clearly the immature one and decided to highlight the tiny penis the giant statue had.

Something is Missing

I've been sitting in bed for most of the day. I've had a lot of time to think about my life and what I like and don't like about where I am and where I'm going. The future isn't exactly set in stone but I do still feel like I have things a little too planned out. I miss spontaneity. I feel like there are no surprises in my life. I want to wake up and suddenly go to NYC with someone or drive to the mountains and spend the day doing something crazy and just never know what's going to happen next. I have a good life but it's still missing that spice and it's starting to feel boring and a bit monotonous. For the most part all I do is wake up eat and go to bed.

Beware the Snowman Apocalypse

My mother's snowman army.
Seriously it's multiplying like rabbits.
I'm a little scared.

Berkeley is Officially on Santa Watch

He's checking out the window so he can be ready for when Santa comes with his gifts. He's going to jump him and take Santa for everything. He wants more squeaker toys because he goes through his so fast.

Another Recipe from My Kitchen

I hosted a party in my apartment recently and I used a key lime pie recipe I found on the internet. Well thank goodness I tried some before the party because it was a huge flop. I had followed the recipe to the letter and it looked and tasted disgusting. The thing hadn't even cooked through all the way so I had to toss it out. This is fine because it inspired me to do my own thing a week after the party and use a few recipes as a base of what type of ingredients are in a key lime pie. What follows is the recipe of what I made. You'll notice not a lot of measurement on my part and I prefer it that way.

My Key Lime Pie Recipe:

crust:
a bunch of ginger snaps (a lot of ginger snaps trust me)
a nice amount of sugar say 2 spoonfuls
a stick of butter (Paula Dean style)

filling:
squeeze a ton of key limes about 1/2 cup (or be lazy like I should have and get key lime juice)
3 or 4 egg yolks (we won't be using the egg whites)
about 2 spoonfuls of sugar
1 can (14 oz) of condensed sweetened milk
two drops of green food coloring... trust me looks prettier

whipped topping:
1 thing of heavy cream
let's say about a 1/4 cup of sugar (more to taste if you want it sweeter)
a few dashes of ground cinnamon

raspberry sauce:
a bag of frozen (thawed) or two pints of fresh raspberries ought to work (I went frozen when I made it)
a fair amount of sugar
a good few squeezes of a fresh lemon

Instructions:
preheat the oven to 325
to make the crust crush the ginger snaps then mix in the sugar
melt the butter (on 30 second incriments)
pour butter over crumb mixture and mix until everything looks coated which is why you want a lot of ginger snaps
make sure to press to bottom and sides for the bottom I like you use a flat glass to make sure it gets nice and pressed down
place into your pie pan and press to bottom and sides
place in the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes
while that's going on start on the filling and pour the condensed milk into a medium bowl
then add the key lime juice and sugar and mix
now add your egg yolks one at a time and mix thoroughly between each
add the food coloring if desired to make it look a nice green
take the crust out of the oven and allow it to cool down before adding the filling
bake for about 10 to 12 minutes
then allow it to cool and refrigerate until you want to serve it

to make the whipped topping:
add all the ingredients to a medium- large bowl (I'm hoping this will help with splatter)
use a hand mixer and a low to medium-low speed
this is going to take a fair amount of time so be patient
you will now when it's done when you get a nice fluffy texture like whipped cream from a store

for the raspberry sauce:
if you use frozen raspberries I highly suggest thawing them to make it easier to puree
put them along with about 2 to 3 spoonfuls of sugar and lemon juice in blender
blend until smooth and taste add sugar as desired (personally I like it sweet but not too sweet just enough to take off the edge of the raspberries)

if you want to be fancy for serving this pour the raspberry sauce into a bag and cut a small hole one corner and squeeze it out over a plate to make a nice zig-zag type design like you'd see in a restaurant. next place the slice on top and then do the same with the whipped topping but a little bigger hole and squeeze some out on the slice and/or off to the side on your plate... now you're looking fancy.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Even though there was a ton of snow on the road Paul and I braved it to go to Philadelphia.

We were thrilled at the sight of the stadium.

We saw the Philadelphia, PA skyline and knew there was only one thing to do...

After driving through the snow covered streets (they had 2 feet)

We found what we were searching for...

We read the instructions and shared a laugh at how serious they take ordering.

We finally had in hand a cheesesteak and fries... our hearts and stomachs were content

We decided instead of standing in the freezing cold wind and snow to sit in the car and enjoy our prize in the warmth of my Jeep.

Pat's King of Steaks claimed to be the originator of the cheesesteak...

Despite the warnings of Pat's we had other ideas... and a mission.

A while back we had discussed coming to Philadelphia and trying a bunch of cheesesteak places to find the best...

And again we walked back to the car to enjoy the savory cheesesteak... (look at these pictures is making me hungry)

After enjoying the two cheesesteaks and satisfying our hunger and curiosity for the moment we headed to the stadium for the Eagles v. 49ers game and the real reason we braved the icy road conditions.

What an awesome view from our seats... our first NFL game!

We were in such awe of everything and as giggly as school girls waiting for the game to start.

E-A-G-L-E-S... GO EAGLES!!!!

ZOMG!!! Eagles players

This was all that was left of the snow by the time we got in the stadium

We of course were sitting on the Eagles side...

Too excited for words at this point.

So close we could taste it.

Fly Eagles Fly!!!

We made a cute popsicle pair in the cold...

Next time we want seats here.... so close you could almost smell the grass.

A little fuzzy but we still look cute and not very warm.

A shot of the stadium on our way to the car to warm up

After the game we were starving and so went to Dalessandro's for one last cheesesteak.

And our trip wouldn't have been complete without a trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art... ROCKY STEPS!!!!!

We made our way to the top and declared victory!!!

We went sledding down the steps instead of walking back down.

Guess who found the Rocky statue... unlike Rocky we weren't totally pleased his statue was moved (Rocky Balboa movie reference).

Pictures in front of the statue followed us finding it...

I want to have a statue of me too now...

You know what they say about guys with big feet....
big shoes.

I wasn't ready to part with Rocky or Philadelphia after having such a fun day with Paul...

With one finally Philadelphia kiss in front of Rocky I was ready to head back and fall asleep in my own bed.

...this day will live forever in my mind and heart. I couldn't have asked for a better day trip to Philadelphia with Paul. I'm sure we'll have more adventures to come.
