I have the Holiday Blues

Somehow Christmas always manages to make me depressed, and this year is no exception.
I am glad though that most of my friends and I agreed to not exchange gifts so I didn't end up with gifts that weren't personal and spending more money than I can afford (although I did already manage to do that).

I'm the type of person who takes the time to think about the gifts I give and go beyond the suggestions people give me and put thought and heart into a gift. To me something that is much more personal means more than just going off of someone's Christmas list and selecting something at random that you can afford. I think people lose the real meaning of Christmas and get caught up with just buying shit for people without thinking about what they're getting them.

I never give my parents a Christmas list anymore unless they ask for suggestions, and then I tell them things that I need rather than want and things that my friends couldn't afford (GPS last year, and a vacuum or sofa this year). They always manage to figure out the best gifts on their own and those are the one's I enjoy most.

I guess what's really bothering me is that I put a lot of thought, time, and effort into the gifts I got and felt like the same wasn't the case. I do like what I got even if it doesn't feel like a personal gift or that any care or thought was put into the choice of gift. Still, I wouldn't change what I ended up giving as gifts because I had fun trying to come up with that perfect something and how exactly to present it. I thought about almost every little detail down to which wrapping paper to use and took care in picking out the bows for the wrapped presents. When you put that much thought into something I guess not getting even half the effort in gift selection feels like you went way over the top and it wasn't even appreciated.

I even wrote on my Christmas lists I put on here that they weren't to be taken as the end all be all. They were more a means of helping people figure out a base of the sort of things I'm interested in and not as this is what I want nothing else. Most of the stuff I put I knew I wouldn't get and don't really want I was just trying to display my personal tastes.

The Cleanup Crew is Never Far Off from the Food

Even Douglas and Berkeley were able to enjoy some raspberry sauce and whipped topping. They played in the snow and came back inside to a tasty treat.

Following the snow plows down Patterson Ave. on my way out to my parent's house for lunch. I really wanted to show off my awesome key lime pie with raspberry sauce, and cinnamon whipped topping (all made from scratch) and make sure they got a slice.

I passed about 10 abandoned cars on my way out.

My Life is a Comedy

This is the comic Paul and I are trying to create about Cuddle Ninja (Paul) and Snuggle Pirate (Me). It's not so easy making a comic this alone took me a little while to do... and I tried not to be overly perfectionist about it. I'm going to open up a new blog soon and start the comic strip on there if I keep it up.

I'm well aware that I'm not an amazing artist but this should be something fun to do.

Exhausting All Possible Resources

I check on plane and train options for going to Philadelphia tomorrow and nothing fits in right with our schedule. We need a miracle or for it to stop snowing soon so we can drive tomorrow at the ass crack of not even dawn.

For Once I Hope it Doesn't Snow

Instead of doing a snow dance and wearing my pajamas wrong side-out I'm going to be wearing them the correct way and wish the snow elsewhere. I usually love snow even on days where I don't have school but this weekend Paul and I are supposed to drive up to Philadelphia, PA to go to our first NFL game and see the Eagles take down the 49ers. We also want to go the Rocky Steps outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art, see the Rocky statue, eat an authentic Phillie cheesesteak, and a few other things. I have my eye on going to the Eastern State Penitentiary, Franklin Square(they have a carousel and I enjoy sill things like that), Independence Hall, a farmer's market, and a park with GIANT board games too.

I Love Whole Foods... Especially on Tuesdays

I absolutely love the deal Whole Foods has running on Tuesday's where you can get two pizzas for the price of one. I don't think I could justify getting one of their pizzas without this deal since they were $17.00 a piece and that's a little pricey when you can go to Little Caesar's and get a cheese pizza for $5. Perhaps the quality isn't as good at Little Caesar's it's still not going to cost me an arm and a leg.

Guess who didn't wait for her boyfriend to come over after band practice to start enjoying these two delightful pizzas. Does that make me a bad girlfriend? Or just a hungry human being that can't resist the smell of pizzas and garlic...

All I want for X-mas is a Guard Goose

Mama Jean and I found the goose lady's house while on the church hill holiday house tour. This was her "guard goose" it kept honking at us like a dog would bark at intruders. I couldn't stop laughing at this spectacle. Her house is somewhere on East Grace Street in church hill.
